A late fifteenth century Florentine merchants wife.
Born in the fall of 1465, I come from a family of good means. My father did well in his merchanting of spices and the occasional exotic foodstuff. In 1480 I became wed to an older merchant of my fathers aquantance. I do not get the best in Florence when it comes to fashion or gems, but he does well by me. As a merchants daughter I was taught to read and write, and to keep books (both the ones the taxman saw and fathers private ledgers). My father provided me with a generous dowery that included money, cloth (silk and linen), and from my mother I recieved a lovely set of pearls. As the oldest daughter it was my due, and I think my sisters jealous. My husband enjoys retellings of old stories, and secured for me a copy of the Decameron to read to him when the nights are long. He grows older each day, soon I think I shall control his household
